Wrecking Ball: I Will Not Live In Fear- Judges 6:1-7:8

About This Message

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.
2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT)

Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds. Whenever the Israelites planted their crops, the Midianites, Amalekites and other eastern peoples invaded the country.
Judges 6:2-3 (NIV)

Then the angel of the Lord came and sat beneath the great tree at Ophrah, which belonged to Joash of the clan of Abiezer. Gideon son of Joash was threshing wheat at the bottom of a winepress to hide the grain from the Midianites. The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said, “Mighty hero, the Lord is with you!”
Judges 6:11-12 (NIV)

1) GOD SEES YOUR POTENTIAL NOT YOUR PAST.

ANTIDOTE: THE LORD IS WITH YOU.

“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family. The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
Judges 6:15 (NIV)

2) GOD SEES POSSIBILITIES NOT PROBLEMS.

ANTIDOTE: I AM SENDING YOU

“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.” The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
Judges 6:13-14 (NIV)

3) GOD SEES HIS POWER NOT PEOPLE.

ANTIDOTE: I WILL SAVE YOU

Fearing people is a dangerous trap, but trusting the LORD means safety. Proverbs 25:29 (NLT)

The Lord said to Gideon, “With the three hundred men that lapped I will save you and give the Midianites into your hands. Let all the others go home.” So Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites home but kept the three hundred, who took over the provisions and trumpets of the others.
Judges 7:7-8 (NIV)
