The Good Shepherd: Hooked on the Shepherd: John 10:11; Psalm 100:3

About This Message

Acknowledge that the Lord is God. He made us, and we are His – His people, the sheep of His pasture.
Psalm 100:3 (CSB)

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
John 10:11 (CSB)

1. The Shepherd Knows Me

“I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me, just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep.”
John 10:14-15 (CSB)

I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
John 10:9 (CSB)

2. The Shepherd Sacrifices for Me

“I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
John 10:11 (CSB)

No one takes it from me, but I lay it down on my own. I have the right to lay it down, and I have the right to take it up again. I have received this command from my Father.
John 10:18 (CSB)

3. The Shepherd Will Never Abandon Me

The hired hand, since he is not the shepherd and doesn’t own the sheep, leaves them and runs away when he sees a wolf coming. The wolf then snatches and scatters them. 13 This happens because he is a hired hand and doesn’t care about the sheep.14 “I am the good shepherd. I know my own, and my own know me, 15 just as the Father knows me, and I know the Father. I lay down my life for the sheep.”
John 10:12-15 (CSB)

4. The Shepherd Gives You Eternal Life

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand.
John 10:28 (CSB)

5. The Shepherd Guards You

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish. No one will snatch them out of my hand. 29 My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand.
John 10:28-29 (CSB)

A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance.
John 10:10 (CSB)
