The Rewards of Servanthood

When you serve you…

1.     Show Jesus to others

But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served butto serve, andto give his life as a ransom formany.                      Matthew 20:26-28 (ESV)

I…have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet.  I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you.                 John 13:14-15 (NLT)

2)   Stay in Tune with the Spirit

God works in different ways, but it is the same God who does the work in all of us.  A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can help each other.

I Corinthians 12:6-7 (NLT)

the Spirit helps us in our weakness.

Romans 8:26 (NIV)

3)  See God move in your life

“And all of you, serve each other in humility, for ‘God sets himself against the proud, but he shows favor to the humble.’”    1 Peter 5:5 (NLT)

My power shows up best in weak people.

                                  2 Corinthians 12:9 (TLB)

Now someone may argue, “Some people have faith; others have good deeds.” But I say, “How can you show me your faith if you don’t have good deeds? I will show you my faith by my good deeds.” James 2:18 (NLT)

Be sure to do what you should, for then you will enjoy the personal satisfaction of having done your work well, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.                                                                         Galatians 6:4 (NLT))

As good managers of God’s grace in its various forms, serve one another with the gift each of you has received.

                   1 Peter 4:10 (ISV)
