About This Message

1)         Deal With Your Past

They chased the Israelites from the city gate as far as the stone quarries and struck them down on the slopes. At this the hearts of the people melted in fear and became like water.
Joshua 7:5 (NIV)

Joshua said, “Why have you brought us trouble? Today the Lord will bring you trouble!” So all Israel stoned them to death. They burned their bodies, threw stones on them, and raised over him a large pile of rocks that remains still today.
Joshua 7:25-26 (CSB)

The Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid or discouraged. Take all the troops with you and go attack Ai. Look, I have handed over to you the king of Ai, his people, city, and land.
Joshua 8:1 (CSB)

2)         Refocus On Your Future

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land…Set an ambush behind the city.
Joshua 8:1-2 (NIV)

Even if good people fall seven times, they will get back up. But when trouble strikes the wicked, that’s the end of them.
Proverbs 24:16 (CEV)

3)         Act In The Present

You shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king, except that you may carry off their plunder and livestock for yourselves. Set an ambush behind the city.

So Joshua and the whole military force set out to attack Ai. Joshua selected 30,000 fighting men and sent them out at night.
Joshua 8:3 (CSB)

Joshua burned Ai and left it a permanent ruin, desolate to this day.
Joshua 8:28 (CSB)
