Rarely do we hear about the dark side of Christmas. But evil was lurking that first Christmas. King Herod may not be a popular Christmas character, but he was just as present as baby Jesus, Joseph, Mary , angels and wise men. We learn from the first Christmas that following Jesus brings both peace and conflict, direction and protection. And we are all called to decide is Jesus our Ruler or Rival.
