1.         Measure the Size of Your Giants Against the Size of Your God

Then Goliath, a Philistine champion from Gath, came out…He was a giant of a man, measuring over nine feet tall!  He wore a bronze helmet and a coat of mail that weighed 125 pounds.
1 Samuel 17:4-5 (NLT)

Today the LORD will conquer you, and I will kill you and cut off your head.
1 Samuel 17:46 (NLT)

2.         Let God Fight Your Battles

David shouted in reply, “You come to me with sword, spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the LORD Almighty—the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
1 Samuel 17:45 (NLT)))

The LORD is a warrior…
Exodus 15:3 (NIV)

3.         Believe God’s Word Over the Opinion of Others

When Eliab, David’s oldest brother, heard him speaking with the men, he burned with anger at him and asked, “Why have you come down here? And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the desert? I know how conceited you are and how wicked your heart is; you came down only to watch the battle.”
1 Samuel 17:28 (NIV)

Saul replied, “You are not able to go out against this Philistine and fight him; you are only a boy, and he has been a fighting man from his youth.”
1 Samuel 17:33 (NIV)

4.               Don’t Forget Your Trophies

The LORD who saved me from the claws of the lion and the bear will save me from this Philistine!”
1 Samuel 17:37 (NLT)

(David took Goliath’s head to Jerusalem, but he stored the Philistine’s armor in his own tent.)
1 Samuel 17:54 (NLT)

Women came out from all the towns along the way to celebrate and to cheer for King Saul…This was their song: “Saul has killed his thousands, and David his ten thousands!”
1 Samuel 18:6-7 (NLT)
