About This Message

Turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding—indeed, if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. He holds success in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless.

Proverbs 2:2-7 (NIV)

1. Be Motivated

Take a lesson from the ants, you lazybones. Learn from their ways and become wise! Though they have no prince or governor or ruler to make them work, they labor hard all summer, gathering food for the winter.

Proverbs 6:6-8 (NLT)

So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31 (NLT)

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Colossians 3:23 (NLT)

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.

Colossians 3:17 (NLT)

Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and the Master you are serving is Christ.

Colossians 3:24 (NLT)

2. Be Skillful

Do you see any truly competent workers? They will serve kings rather than working for ordinary people.

Proverbs 22:29 (NLT)

3. Be Honest

A wicked person earns deceptive wages, but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.

Proverbs 11:18 (NLT)

Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.

Proverbs 16:8 (NLT)

Whoever increases wealth by taking interest or profit from the poor amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor.

Proverbs 28:8 (NLT)

4. Be Diligent

Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.

Proverbs 10:4 (NIV)

A hard worker has plenty of food, but a person who chases fantasies ends up in poverty. The trustworthy person will get a rich reward, but a person who wants quick riches will get into trouble.

Proverbs 28:19-20 (NLT)

The slacker craves, yet has nothing, but the diligent is fully satisfied.

Proverbs 13:4 (HCSB)
