How To Succeed In Love And Life: Success In Love -Galatians 5:16-24, Matthew 22:34-40

About This Message

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh… But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Galatians 5:16-24 (ESV)

1. I Can Express My Love Towards God By Worshipping Him.

Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.”

Matthew 22:34-38 (NIV)

2. I Can Exercise My Love Towards Myself By Having God’s Perspective.

“…And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Matthew 22:39-40 (NIV)

We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works.

Ephesians 2:10

…I have loved you with an everlasting love.

Jeremiah 31:3 (NIV)

Brothers and sisters, you are loved by God, and we know that he has chosen you.

1Thessalonians 1:4 (CEB)

If anyone says, “I love God,” yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

I John 4:20 (NIV)

3. I Can Emphasize My Love Towards Others By Putting Them First.

“…And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

Matthew 22:39-40 (NIV)

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him.

Genesis 1:26-27 (NIV)

Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

Philippians 2:3 (ESV)

HOW CAN I LOVE OTHERS?

1. Love is a DECISION not a FEELING.

2. Love is a LIFESTYLE.

Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.

Ephesians 4:2 (NLT)

3. Love EXPECTS the best
