Gotcha: Take Control Of What’s Controling You – 1 Cor 10:12-13

About This Message

I Cor 10:12-13, Prov 16:18, I Cor 6:18

Overcoming bad habits and temptations is really difficult. 98% of us fail to keep our resolutions to change bad habits. Only 1 out of 20 dieters struggling with obesity is successful in losing weight and keeping it off for at least a year.

While change is hard it is possible. We need a spiritual strategy.

DECIDE TODAY YOU ARE GOING TO CHANGE

If you think you are standing strong, be careful, for you, too, may fall into the same sin. But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it. I Cor 10:12-13 (NLT)

1. Be Careful

If you think you are standing strong, be careful, for you, too, may fall into the same sin. I Cor 10:12 (NLT)

Pride goes before destruction and haughtiness before a fall.
Prov 16:18 (NLT)

But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it. I Cor 10:12-13 (NLT)

2. Be Hopeful

But remember that the temptations that come into your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will keep the temptation from becoming so strong that you can’t stand up against it. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you will not give in to it. I Cor 10:12-13 (NLT)

3. Be Watchful

No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. I Cor 10:12-13 (NAS)

Run away from sexual sin! No other sin so clearly affects the body as this one does. For sexual immorality is a sin against your own body. I Cor 6:18 (NLT)
