Fresh Start: Fresh Vision: Zechariah 4:6-10

About This Message

Do not despise this small beginning…
Zechariah 4:10 (LB)

1. Great Things Start Small

On the seventh day of the fifth month—which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon…a servant of the king of Babylon, entered Jerusalem. He burned the Lord’s temple, the king’s palace, and all the houses of Jerusalem; he burned down all the great houses.
2 Kings 25:8-9 (CSB)

So he answered me, “This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by strength or by might, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord of Armies. ‘What are you, great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain. And he will bring out the capstone accompanied by shouts of: Grace, grace to it!’”
Zechariah 4:6-7 (CSB)

2. Don’t Get Discouraged With Small Things

Then the word of the Lord came to me: 9 “Zerubbabel’s hands have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will complete it. Then you will know that the Lord of Armies has sent me to you.
Zechariah 4:8-9 (CSB)

I am sure of this, that he who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Philippians 1:6 (CSB)

3. Get Encouraged Because God Grows Small Things

For who despises the day of small things? These seven eyes of the Lord, which scan throughout the whole earth, will rejoice when they see the ceremonial stone in Zerubbabel’s hand.”
Zechariah 4:10 (CSB)

Then the Israelites, including the priests, the Levites, and the rest of the exiles, celebrated the dedication of the house of God with joy.
Ezra 6:16 (CSB)
