5 Year Anniversary: Faith On The Move: Genesis 12:1-9, Hebrews 11:8-9

About This Message

1. Faith Is Always Moving Me

The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.

Genesis 12:1 (NIV)

So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. 5He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there. 6Abram traveled through the land as far as the site of the great tree of Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land. 7The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord, who had appeared to him.

Genesis 12:4-7 (NIV)

2. Faith Is Always Challenging Me

It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. 9And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith—for he was like a foreigner, living in tents. And so did Isaac and Jacob, who inherited the same promise.

Hebrews 11:8-9 (NLT)

A. Abandon Routine

B. Abandon Relationships

C. Abandon Reason

So Abram departed as the lord had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

Genesis 12:4 (NLT)

3. Faith Always Blesses Me

I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.

Genesis 12:2-3 (NLT)

This is a record of the ancestors of Jesus the Messiah, a descendant of David and Abraham…

Matthew 1:1 (NLT)
