About This Message

Four Facts About Fueling The Flames Of Marital Passion

1. Intimacy Should Be Pleasurable

I have entered my garden, my treasure, my bride!

Song of Solomon 5:1 (NLT)

Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well… May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth. A loving doe, a graceful deer–may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love.

Proverbs 5:15, 18, 19 (NIV)

Can a man scoop a flame into his lap and not have his clothes catch on fire?

Proverbs 6:27 (NLT)

2. Intimacy Should Be Exclusive

Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry. But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband.

1 Corinthians 7:1-2 (NIV)

3. Intimacy Should Be Regular

Do not deprive each other except by mutual consent and for a time, so that you may devote yourselves to prayer. Then come together again so that Satan will not tempt you because of your lack of self-control.

1 Corinthians 7:5 (NIV)

4. Intimacy Should Be Unselfish

But since there is so much immorality, each man should have his own wife, and each woman her own husband. The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband.

1 Corinthians 7:2-3 (NIV)
