Bouncing Back – Joshua 8:1-29

About This Message

Joshua 8:1-29

God wants you to learn to rebound after you feel like you have failed or faced struggle and heartache.  How do you get back up when you have lost your business?  How do you keep going when you get really discouraged and life has not worked out the way you thought it should have? How do you avoid being defeated and deflated?  How can you turn defeat into victory?

1)  Release The Junk—Forgive yourself, Confess, Make restitution

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land.
Joshua 8:1 (NIV)

2)  Refocus – Get a new Plan

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land…Set an ambush behind the city.
Joshua 8:1-2 (NIV)

The 2 Greatest Enemies of Success:  Fear and Discouragement

Fear—The word worry comes from the Anglo-Saxon term meaning “to choke off.”  That is what fear does.  Worry is a simple misuse of God’s creative imagination which he has placed within us. Fear is the #1 reason people don’t do what God has called them to do.

Discouragement—It’s great to have people to encourage you.  But if you really want to live an encouraged life learn to encourage yourself in the Lord.

And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the Lord his God.
I Samuel 30:6 (KJV)
