How can I build my spiritual passion?
1. Look Back
I remember this as I pour out my heart: how I walked with many, leading the festive procession to the house of God, with joyful and thankful shouts.5 Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God.
Psalm 42:4-5 (CSB)
2. Look Beyond
I hear the tumult of the raging seas as your waves and surging tides sweep over me.8 But each day the Lord pours his unfailing love upon me, and through each night I sing his songs praying to God who gives me life.
Psalm 42:7-8 (NLT)
My God! Now I am deeply discouraged, but I will remember you—even from distant Mount Hermon, the source of the Jordan, from the land of Mount Mizar.
Psalm 42:6 (LB)
3. Look Forward
But, O my soul, don’t be discouraged. Don’t be upset. Expect God to act! For I know that I shall again have plenty of reason to praise him for all that he will do. He is my help! He is my God!
Psalm 42:11 (LB)
4. Look Up
For you are God, my only place of refuge. Why have you tossed me aside? Why must I mourn at the oppression of my enemies?3 Oh, send out your light and your truth—let them lead me. Let them lead me to your Temple on your holy mountain, Zion.
Psalm 43:2-3 (CSB)
Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil?
Put your hope in God, for I will still praise him, my Savior and my God.
Psalm 43:5 (CSB)
